There are calls for new Tottenham boss Enzi Postecoglou to bring in his former Celtic teammate Kyogo Furuhashi.
Tottenham Hotspur announced on their website on Saturday (June 6), “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Postecoglou as our new head coach. He will join the club on July 1 and has signed a four-year contract, making him the first Australian manager in the English Premier League (EPL).” The club officially announced the appointment of Postecoglou.
The news of Postecoglou’s appointment was met with mixed reactions from Spurs fans. While some praised his work with the Australian national team, where he won the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, and his achievements with Celtic, where he won the double last season and the Domestic Treble this season, others were concerned about his lack of experience as a manager in the big leagues.
The latter were more concerned because of Spurs’ current situation. Spurs have had a history of managerial atrocities in recent seasons, most recently this season when they sacked coach Christian Sturridge after parting ways with Antonio Conte by mutual consent. The results didn’t follow. Next season, the club will need to deliver results, both in terms of returning to European competition and in terms of league form, and the board’s decision to bring in a coach with no big-league experience like Postecoglou was questionable.
Chairman Daniel Levy took it upon himself to convince Spurs fans. “We made this decision because we wanted a manager who understands that what we really want to play is attacking football, who can make sure that everyone enjoys coming to the games, and who understands the importance of the club’s academy,” Levy was quoted as saying by the UK’s Daily Mail.
According to Levy, Postecoglou favored a proactive and aggressive style of play at Celtic. But unlike Celtic, who were a powerhouse in the Scottish league, Tottenham have never established themselves as a force in the English Premier League (EPL), so the question is whether or not they can perform at the same level. To dispel these doubts, Postecoglou needs to prove himself, and the club needs to back him.
In the meantime, there’s been a steady stream of calls to bring in Celtic striker Furuhashi to bolster the attack. “Tottenham want Postecoglou to bring Japanese striker Furuhashi with him,” wrote SpursWeb, a Tottenham fan community. They want him to be a partner or competitor for Harry Kane.”
Furuhashi is a standout striker for Celtic and the Japanese national team. Furuhashi arrived in a Celtic shirt ahead of last season and made a successful transition, scoring 12 goals in 20 league games. This season, he has scored 27 goals in the league alone, making him one of the best strikers in Scotland.메이저사이트
Furuhashi is contracted to Celtic until the summer of 2025. He still has two years left on his contract, but if Postecoglou leaves, it could affect his future. That”s why he”s been strongly linked to Tottenham.
“Postecoglou should bring Furuhashi to the club. He can play both up front and on the left flank, just like Son Heung-min. His arrival would take some of the pressure off Kane. With 30 league goals this season, Kane has been responsible for 43% of Tottenham’s league goals.”
