During his time with the Seattle Mariners, he hit 44 home runs, a career-high in 2015, and ranked second in home runs, and in 2016, he also hit 43 home runs, ranking second in the league in home runs.
Cruz had a batting average of 0.234 with 10 home runs and 64 RBIs last year at the Washington Nationals. However, he blew 105 hits last year, becoming the sixth active player to break the 2,000 mark. He was the first player to reach 2000 hits in a Washington uniform.
