Rory McIlroy, world number one in men’s golf, is in danger of missing the cut.
McIlroy made two birdies and bogey in the first round of the PGA Tour WM Phoenix Open (total prize money of $20 million) held at TPC Scottsdale (par 71) in Scottsdale, Arizona on the 10th (Korean time). He tied 4 and hit 2 over par 73. McIlroy was tied for 88th as of 8:50 a.m.
McIlroy was considered the most likely winner even before the tournament. He is world No. 1, and his shot quality was good enough to win the DP World Tour Hero Dubai Desert Classic last January. The PGA Tour also ranked McIlroy number one in the power rankings.
McIlroy, who started the game from hole 10 (par 4) in the morning, exchanged two birdies and two bogeys in the first half. In the second half, he made consecutive bogies in holes 1 (par 4) and 7 (par 3), and finished the first day of the tournament with a 2-over par 73. 먹튀검증
McIlroy only hit the fairway four times. After the game, McIlroy said, “Like today, the wind continues at 90 degrees and the wind has to come out with completely different shots and different clubs. But I was less than ideal today.”
Currently, the leaders are Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin (above Canada). After finishing the game in the morning, they recorded a 5-under-par 66. Zander Chopley (USA), who also finished the game, rose to third place with a 4 under par 67 strokes.
Im Seong-jae (25) was ranked highest among Korean players. Im Seong-jae struggled with a 2-over par until the 10th hole in the second half, but reduced the number of strokes by driving an eagle on the 15th hole (par 5) and a birdie on the 16th and 17th holes. Unfortunately, Im Seong-jae, who committed a bogey on the 18th hole (par 4), tied for 17th with a 1-under-par 70 stroke.
Kim Joo-hyung (21) and Kim Si-woo (28), who are currently playing, are recording 1 over par 72 strokes side by side. Lee Gyeong-hoon (32), who finished the game in the morning, hit the same 2-over par 73 as McIlroy.
