KBO to pilot ‘referee wireless intercom’ at 24th Gocheok Doosan-Kiwoom game

“Expect to help speed up adjudication”

By Dae-hyun Moon The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) has begun piloting umpire wireless intercoms to help speed up decisions.

The KBO is piloting the umpire wireless intercom at the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League game between the Doosan Bears and Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Thursday.

The wireless intercom allows referees to minimize delays during video review.

Previously, referees had to wear a wired headset and microphone when reading the video, causing a certain amount of delay, but if they wear a wireless intercom at all times, they can receive the readings from the reading center more quickly.메이저놀이터

The KBO plans to pilot the system, which is already in operation in Major League Baseball (MLB), and then discuss its full introduction.

“It is expected to help improve the fairness, speed, and accuracy of judgment by enabling instant communication between umpires on the field,” said a KBO official.
