Doosan defeats KIA to prevent sweep.
Doosan earned a 3-2 one-run victory over KIA in the 2023 KBO League on Nov. 11 at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. Doosan won the final game of the three-game series after losing two straight to KIA on the 9th and 10th. Doosan remained in fifth place with 28 wins, one draw and 26 losses, while KIA remained in sixth place with 25 wins and 27 losses. The two teams are now separated by 2.5 games.
Prior to the game, Doosan made changes to its first-team roster and switched pitching coaches for the first and second teams. Jeong Jae-hoon was demoted to the second team and Kwon Myung-cheol was added to the first team roster. We removed Rojas, a foreign hitter, from the first team roster and assigned him to the second team for the time being.
Manager Lee Seung-yeop called the change of pitching coach “a change of pace,” and said of Rojas, “A foreign hitter is not a substitute in the first team. We find good hitters in the second team and call them up when they can start.”

For KIA, high school rookie Yoon Young-cheol made his first start after four days of rest. Manager Kim Jong-kook said, “Yoon Young-chul only needs to give up three runs in five innings. If we see him pitching next Saturday and he looks like he’s feeling heavy or needs a break, we’ll discuss with the coaches and give him a break.”

KIA sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and failed to get a single run across before Kwak Bin threw a perfect pitch. In the first inning, Ryu Ji-hyuk flied out to center field, Go Jong-wook grounded out to shortstop, and Socrates flied out to shortstop.
2nd Choi Hyung-woo grounded out to first, Kim Sun-bin flied out to center, and Lee Woo-sung grounded out to third. In the third, Byun Woo-hyuk and Shin Beom-soo flied out to right field. Two batters later, Park Chan-ho flied out to center field.
In the fourth inning, leadoff hitter Ryu Ji-hyeok hit a ball to the body, but it flew behind the second base. Second baseman Lee Yoo-chan rushed to make a diving catch. It was completely out of the air. It was a super catch. Ko Jong-wook popped out to third, and Socrates grounded out to first.
Doosan put runners on first and third in the top of the first when Jung Soo-bin led off with a single to left and Kim Dae-hyun singled in front of the center fielder. Yang led off the inning with a sacrifice fly to center field. Yang Seok-hwan singled to left to put runners on first and second, but Kim Jae-hwan flied out to right and Park Kye-beom flied out to right to end the threat.
Doosan put runners on first and third in the bottom of the second inning when Lee Yoo-chan led off with a single to left and Jung Soo-bin singled through the second baseman’s side. Kim Dae-hyun’s hard hit ball was caught by Kim Sun-bin at second base with a jumping catch.
Doosan got on the board in the fourth inning when leadoff hitter Park Kye-beom drew a walk. Kang Seung-ho took a 136-kilometer high fastball from KIA starter Yoon Young-chul and smashed it over the center field fence (125 meters). The runner from first came home and scored, giving Kang Seung-ho his first RBI.
With one out, Lee Yoo-chan grounded to the shortstop, and the runner at third was tagged out at home. However, Doosan requested a video review and it was overturned as a save. The third baseman, Kang Seung-ho, made an exquisite head-first slide to avoid the tag, but the catcher failed to make the proper tag. The third baseman’s left arm touched home plate first. 3-0.
KIA broke the perfect game in the top of the fifth when Kim Sun-bin drew a walk. Lee Woo-sung struck out to load the bases, and Byun Woo-hyuk broke the no-hitter with a single over the second base line. With runners on first and second, Shin Beom-soo drew a walk to load the bases.
On a two-ball one-strike, Park Chan-ho pulled a 147-kilometer fastball into left field that slipped between the third baseman and shortstop, bringing home two runners to make it 3-2. With runners on first and second, Ryu Ji-hyeok flied out to left field.
In the bottom of the sixth, Choi Hyung-woo hit a double off the left field fence. The video review showed that it hit the yellow bar on top of the fence and went into the ground. If it had been one centimeter higher, it could have been a home run. With two outs, Kim Sun-bin flied out to left field.
Doosan missed a great opportunity in the bottom of the sixth inning. Park Kye-beom led off with a double to center. Kang Seung-ho grounded out to the second baseman to load the bases. With Kim Jae-ho at the plate, Doosan called for a squeeze bunt.
However, Kim Jae-ho’s bunt went straight to the pitcher, and the runner at third was strangled as he tried to run home. He was tagged out at third base, and a runner tried to steal second base but was thrown out at second. The inning ended with no runs scored on a double play.메이저사이트
In the seventh inning, Doosan brought in Lee Young-ha as the second pitcher after Kwak Bin. In the bottom of the seventh, KIA sent left-hander Choi Ji-min to the mound as the second pitcher after starter Yoon Young-chul.
Lee pitched two scoreless innings before Hong Gun-hee came in to close out the ninth to preserve the 3-2 lead.
Doosan starter Kwak Bin gave up two runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout in six innings. KIA starter Yoon Young-chul gave up three runs on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts in six innings.
