A 60-year-old American man who suffered from cancer participated in the PGA Tour Sony Open

Reporter Kim Dong-chan = A 60-year-old American man diagnosed with colon cancer five years ago will compete in a regular tournament on the US Professional Golf (PGA) Tour.

The Associated Press introduced the story of a man named Michael Castillo on the 11th.

Castillo will participate in the PGA Tour Sony Open (total prize money of 7.9 million dollars) to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA for four days from the 12th.

This tournament is a regular PGA Tour event featuring many world-class players such as Jordan Spieth (USA), Matsuyama Hideki (Japan), and Keegan Bradley (USA).

Castillo will compete in this tournament as the PGA Regional Champion.

There are several conditions to qualify for the Sony Open, but he won the Aloha Regional Championship last year and was able to compete in this tournament. 스포츠토토

He is also the head pro at a golf course in Kapalua, Hawaii, and is the oldest participant in this tournament. He is a much older brother than Choi Gyeong-ju (53), who is also on the senior tour.

He is also in poor physical condition to the extent that he had to undergo chemotherapy in November last year.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Castillo said, “It’s been 10 years since the whole family got together, and I’m very happy.”

His entire family is closely related to golf.

His father, Ron, is a club pro in Hawaii and has competed in several Sony Opens. Her older sister Laurie also won the 1979 US Junior Championship and the 1980 US Women’s Amateur Public Links.

Ron and Laurie are both inductees into the Hawaii State Golf Hall of Fame.

Castillo recalled the Aloha Section Championship in September of last year and said, “At that time, the cancer metastasized to the liver and had to undergo chemotherapy.”

He will play the first round of this tournament with Scott Harrington and Brent Grant (above USA). Both players came from the PGA 2nd division tour last season.
