’14 year one club man’ wears a new uniform… The story of hesitating in front of the newcomers

’14 year one club man’ Kim Sang-soo wore a KT Wiz uniform and started memorizing autographs with new players.

In February, at the ‘2023 KT Wiz Spring Camp’ held at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, USA, Kim Sang-soo, who played for Samsung for 14 years, wore a KT uniform and was with the rookie players.

After stretching and warming up, Kim Sang-soo, along with the new players and coach Choi Man-ho, gathered in a line next to the third base.

There was an autograph training by coach Choi Man-ho. Kim Sang-soo, who had been active at Samsung for 14 years, found it awkward to sign from KT. Among the rookie players, Kim Sang-soo, who has been in his 15th year, showed a more focused expression.

After the autograph training, Coach Manho Choi asked Sangsu Kim, “What kind of autograph is this?”, and Sangsu Kim looked puzzled. Then coach Choi Man-ho joked, “It’s because I’m old,” and the rookie players burst into laughter.

When asked about the autographs of the rookie players, Kim Sang-soo listened more intently and engraved them in his head. After 20 minutes of autograph training, the players returned to their respective training positions. 스포츠토토

After graduating from Kyungbok High School, Kim Sang-soo made his professional debut after receiving the first nomination from Samsung in the 2009 rookie draft. He is Samsung’s representative shortstop, leading Samsung’s 4 consecutive championships from 2011 to 2014. In the second half of last season, Kim Sang-soo recorded a batting average of 0.290, 1 home run, 17 RBIs and 24 points in 52 games.

On November 24 last year, KT signed a free agency contract with Kim Sang-soo for a total of 2.9 billion won over 4 years. Kim Sang-soo, who stayed with Samsung for the first three years of free agency in 2019 for a total of 1.8 billion, took on a new challenge. Due to the active courtship of the KT club, despite KT manager Lee Kang-cheol, they decided to leave Daegu and settle in Suwon.

Kim Sang-soo, who is starting as KT’s new infield commander, said, “I think I need to do a lot of defense training this camp. Even if I played shortstop in the second half of last year, I’m going to play a lot of shortstop defense because I had a hiatus. Because of that, we have to erase his void as much as possible.”
